Biography

Richard was admitted as a barrister in February 1985.  He has practised continuously at the private bar in Brisbane since 1988.  After establishing a successful criminal practice, he commenced doing personal injury litigation in the early 1990’s and by 1995 was practising exclusively in that jurisdiction.  Since that time, he has established himself as one of the leaders of the personal injuries bar, appearing for both plaintiffs and insurers in all jurisdictions.  Over the past few years he has been briefed on an increasingly regular basis in catastrophic claims which are often medical negligence cases in which he now has a special interest.  Richard has appeared in many prominent cases, including:
